The last part of the steel production process is hot rolling, where the billets are transformed into the different long steel products that the national and international market requires. Pisco's two Lamination Plants have two rolling mills with a high level of automation: the rolling mill No. 1, dedicated to the manufacture of square, round, plate, tees, helical bars and angles; and rolling mill No. 2, dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of construction bars, from 8mm to 1 3/8 ”with high-speed technology. Both plants have a production capacity of 1,200,000 tons per year of finished steel product.

In the rolling mill N ° 1, the raw material is the billet supplied by the Steel Plant. It is fed into the Reheat Furnace and heated to an average temperature of 1,160 ° C, through the combustion process with natural gas. Once the desired temperature has been obtained, the billet enters the rolling mill consisting of a set of equipment (booths) placed in series that have the purpose of reducing the cross section of the billet; through its compression between the house rollers, giving the shape of the final product and improving its mechanical properties. Then the product is discharged and cooled to the environment on the Cooling Plate; it is subsequently cut to the desired commercial length with the Cold Cut Shear. When profiles are manufactured, in the cutting area there is a Multi-Strand Straightener that serves to give more straightness to the product.

There is also a wire rod line on the N ° 1 rolling mill, where wire rods for wire drawing, calibrating, electrodes and construction are rolled. Once the bar finishes its process in the rolling mill, it passes through a high-speed Finishing Block (BGV) reaching 100 m / s. To obtain the required mechanical and metallurgical characteristics, the wire rod temperature is controlled with controlled cooling boxes. Then, the wire rod is formed in turns with the Winder for its formation in rolls and finally they are packed and identified.

The rolling mill N ° 2: exclusively intended for the manufacture of construction bars. The lamination process is similar to the laminating train N ° 1, the billet is heated in the furnace and it is laminated, either with hot or cold load, until obtaining the shape of the final product and with improvements in its mechanical properties. The difference that the new rolling mill has is that it has the high-speed line, which consists of two finishing blocks (BGV) and Controlled Cooling Boxes, which performs the two-wire process with a higher production rate which It has the capacity to manufacture 125 t / h.

Finished products in bars and coils are transferred to the Finished Products Warehouse for dispatch to customers.
