Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
At Corporación Aceros Arequipa, we incorporate social responsibility as a fundamental pillar of our business development and sustainability strategy. Our approach is guided by a policy that upholds responsible leadership, robust corporate governance, and transparent stakeholder engagement.
Community Engagement
Although we operate in an industrial zone with no direct impact on nearby communities, we actively contribute to local development through targeted programs, on-site visits, and collaborative working groups. Our initiatives support local associations, vaso de leche programs, and community kitchens in Pisco.
Our social initiatives are strategically focused on three key areas:
Since 2019, we have provided a full university scholarship to an outstanding student from our area of influence with limited financial resources. Additionally, under the #AvanzandoJuntos program, we grant two partial scholarships. This initiative, designed to promote equitable access to quality education, represents an annual social investment of $19,387.
Beyond financial assistance, the program fosters students’ soft skills, ensuring their holistic academic and professional growth.
This competition is designed to strengthen students’ mathematical competencies within Basic Education, fostering a culture of scientific inquiry. Through this initiative, we actively contribute to enhancing educational standards and overall development of students engaged in national science clubs.
In partnership with ONG Vida Perú, CAASA conducts an annual preventive healthcare campaign in the province of Pisco. This initiative is held over two days in March and two days in November at I.E. Carlos Noriega Jiménez. In the latest campaign, over 812 patients received medical attention, totaling more than 2,000 specialized consultations. Additionally, essential medications were distributed free of charge during both sessions.
We recognize corporate volunteering as a strategic mechanism for fostering community well-being, reinforcing our organizational culture, and contributing to the creation of more inclusive, equitable, and socially responsible societies.
Through our "Steel Volunteers" program, we empower our employees to actively participate in volunteer initiatives, positioning them as agents of change and drivers of social development. In 2023, our efforts centered on environmental sustainability, with tree-planting initiatives in Lima and Pisco, executed in collaboration with regional institutions.
To maximize the impact of our social responsibility efforts, we have forged strategic alliances with leading institutions and organizations. Since the launch of our corporate volunteer program in 2017, we have experienced continuous growth in both volunteer engagement and institutional support. In 2023, our key partners included the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima and SERPAR.
We have formalized an institutional framework agreement with the Local Educational Management Unit (UGEL) to drive educational progress in the province of Pisco. Under this partnership, we organize mathematics competitions for local schools, inspiring students to engage with and excel in the subject.
In collaboration with the National Service for Industrial Training (SENATI), we provide specialized Excel training to educators from two leading educational institutions in Pisco. In 2023, this initiative benefited approximately 60 teachers, equipping them with essential digital competencies to enhance their teaching methodologies.
